Nails with a purpose

For NNVA 4th Annual Nail Tech Battle, we’re adding a new competition, challenging nail techs to create functional nail inventions. Nails that don’t just look good, but actually do something!

Imagine this, a nail with a real key embedded that locks and unlocks a door or a nail that opens to reveal lip gloss you can actually apply or something else the world hasn’t even seen yet.

On site each competitor must design at least one nail that has a real, working function beyond aesthetics. The function must be demonstrated live in front of the judges and audience.

Basic Rules

•ON SITE, Each competitor must create at least ONE nail that has a genuine, working function (more than one functional nail may be created). The function must be demonstrable live (not just “in theory”).

•Safety: No designs that are dangerous, highly flammable or using unsafe chemicals.

•Time Limit: 2.5 hours to fully create and apply the functional nail and prepare for demonstration.

 • No parts may be created in advance

• Enhancements may be pre applied to all other nails, the functional nail(s) that are to be judged must be bare and constructed ON SITE, on a model or practice hand, prior to judging.
